13 reviews for KEYESTUDIO IOT ESP32 Smart Home Starter Kit for Arduino and Python,Electronics Home Automation Coding Kit, Wooden House DIY Sensor Kit,STEM Educational Set for Adults Teens 15+
Many practical applications of sensors and lesson-based tutorials – STEAM Arduino Kit at its Finest!
Made for the hobbyist or teenage engineer, the Keyestudio Smart Home (KS5009) walks the user through their familiar WIKI knowledge base, bite-size assembly instructions and well written steps on how to work with each sensor. You will need 6 AA to run the completed kit independently. You will be able to code the included projects with the Arduino IDE tutorial. The most intriguing item is the final project: the ability to manage your “home” from your iPad or Android device.
It has all the info you need to get this kit up and running. I’m buying 2 more for my nephews.
Very fun project to put together. This kit is very consise and well documented and accurate. Never expected to have everything working in a couple hours after assembly. Very well thought out kit with no pitfalls to fight thru.
Great Project!
This kit is a great product for learning sensors and the concept of IOT. After finishing assembling the house the music portion would not compile. The Keyestudio support worked with me until the issue of an incompatible library was resolved. All is working now. The individual sensor chapters provide knowledge allowing me to use the sensors in other projects. It would be great if the ESP32 Plus board were available separately due to the number of connections provided. All in all great project and great support.
No connection via Arduino, cannot complete build or use product
The instructions for this are spread out over several files, but nowhere does it really cover how to connect the board to the Arduino IDE.Several external reviews mention methods that either don’t apply or don’t work for me.I did get the board to run WiFi Scan, but cannot complete an early build step that requires zeroing out the window servo. The kit looks promising, appears to be well-made and the sensors look appropriate for the STEM task I bought it for, but if you cannot connect you cannot control or interact. The instruction manuals should be brought together, so one simple set takes you through construction and supplies board manager data so the supplied sketches work appropriately.
Not as easy as it looks!
You better know what you’re doing as far as Arduinos and especially the ESP32! Lots left out. But I already had experience with both and many of these sensors.
Has the potential to be a very fun, educational kit, but for now the substance just isn’t there.
Directions for assembly were vague, but understandable. The link for the QR code didn’t work, and there was no instruction on any of the programming. This has the potential to be a very fun, educational kit, but as of right now, the substance just isn’t there.
***Edit after 3 days use*** – The board has failed after 3 days, it no longer works, very poor quality indeed.Component quality is reasonable, would be great value for money if it worked. I bought this to learn about arduino and basic coding etc. The paperwork is utterly useless, it honestly looks like it was thrown together by someone who couldn’t care less and that is being very polite about it.I absolutely would not recommend this product to anyone who wants to actually use it for what it is meant for.I was going to list a whole load of errors with the sketches, the instructions, the build, but honestly there’s no point, this is yet another example of couldn’t care less cheap chinese crap, again. You’d thing I’d know better by now.
