    Good CPU, terrible cooler.
Great CPU to keep the older AM4 platform going. The only two issues with it is that it is a heat monster and the Wraith Prism included with it has no hope of cooling it properly. The Wraith Prism included with the CPU I bought had what looked like a dot pattern of thermal putty, and not a sheet of paste that it should have. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and tried installing it, only to be greeted with 75C idle temperatures that quickly shot up to 90-100C under even light loads like booting into Windows.Removing the cooler for inspection revealed the thermal putty dots had barely expanded and through the gaps, about 50% of the IHS was not covered by anything. I scraped all of it off and used some good thermal paste spread out all over the IHS for 100% coverage. This didn’t get the temperatures down much, and the CPU still hit the high 80s under load, with the fan annoyingly ramping up and down rapidly. The blades on my cooler weren’t balanced properly so it caused the whole machine to vibrate more or less depending on how fast the fan was spinning.I opted to just ditch the Wraith Prism and used a different air cooler entirely. Lower temps, no annoying fan noise and the case wasn’t trying to vibrate itself apart like a concrete vibrator.Performance wise, it is far and above the CPU it replaced, a Ryzen 5 1500X I bought back in 2017.

Still a great CPU even in 2025!
Still a great CPU even in 2025! It arrived in good condition and fired up my PC without a hitch after installing it in my B550 main board. It comes with the more beefy Wraith Prism heat sink/fan, but I am not using it, so can’t say how well it cools, but my CPU is running at ~36c (a few degrees lower than my Ryzen 5 5600 ran in the same rig) on the desktop so I would guess it would run at ~40-44c or so if I were to use the stock cooler.Edit: When doing CPU intensive stuff like shader caching, it does jump right up to ~60 degrees and the fans wind up. That is due to the AMD PBO (precision boost overdrive) settings that increase clocks and voltages quite a bit temporarily for high workloads. You can disable that (I did) in your BIOS, if you prefer silence and low temperature and power use over spikes of higher performance, and it runs super quiet and stays at ~38-40 degrees while still performing ~98% as well.

Biggest Upgrade for AM4 beside X3D
Upgraded from a Ryzen 5 5600GT. I wanted to get the highest chip I could and stay on the AM4 platform. It’s hard to explain why it’s better but it just is. Graphics are smoother and the graphics are more crisp. I added an AIO amd my CPU temp does not go over 59* C. My 5600 was around 55* with an Air Cooler only. I would purchase this again especially for the price. If you can’t afford the X3D like me, this is the next best UG from. Ryzen 5. It comes with a very nice air cooler that costs 50$ alone. It’s an excellent value.

    High quality CPU
This is a great, fast, high quality AMD CPU especially for the money. The heat level seem really good, and it is very stable. I upgraded from my AMD Ryzen 7 2700x and I could tell the difference in speed.

    Major upgrade
This CPU was an upgrade from a Ryzen 5 5500 that had started to struggle with a few of the games I play. I’m a huge fan of AMD processors and this new one has made a big difference already. I just installed it yesterday and one of the games that the previous processor struggled with running at 100% is now running at 50% on the new processor. The installation was pretty typical with no issues. But I’ve installed several so it was no different.Pros1. Removed the bottleneck that my previous processor was causing. I can play pretty much anything now without an issue.2. Based on the benchmark that I ran after install it has definitely improved the capability of my PC. And if you’re a gamer you should be able to run pretty much anything as long as you have a decent graphics card at low to medium settings. Possibly higher settings. But I typically go for higher FPS than higher quality.3. I have not experienced any compatibility issues with this new CPU and my motherboard or anything else on my PC.Cons1. This thing runs hot. And that may make some people think that there’s an issue. But if you look online like I did you’ll see that that is a common trait for this particular CPU. 90° c or below is where it’s happy. Make sure you have a good cooler which would have course include the one that comes with it.

Best AM4 bang for the buck
Best bang for the buck for AM4. Very close to 5700X3D in games and faster at everything else for less than half the cost. With PBO and per core CO it scores 700/7000 in CPUZ.

Good processor but you need a good air cooler ya liquid cooler👍🏻I got this for:-19k👌

Works on asus b450 motherboard migrated from win 10 to win 11

Very good price. The 5800XT was slightly cheaper than the 5800x and included a basic cooler.
