[Note]: (1) One Terabyte (1TB) means 10{12] = 1,000,000,000,000 bytes using powers of 10. Actual formatted storage capacity may vary. For details, please visit Toshiba’s Consumer HDD website. (2) Compatibility may vary depending on user’s hardware configuration & operating system. (3) Product specifications, colors, configurations and components are subject to change without notice. (4) “2.5-inch” & “3.5-inch” mean the form factor of HDDs. They do not indicate drive’s physical size. (5) For “Drive Bays Supported”, please contact your Solutions Provider as compatibility with host device will vary based on the system. (6) Workload is a measure of the data throughput of the year, and it is defined as the amount of data written, read or verified by commands from the host system. (7) MTTF (Mean Time to Failure) is not a guarantee or estimate of product life; it is a statistical value related to mean failure rates for a large number of products which may not accurately reflect actual operation. Actual operating life of the product may be different from the MTTF. (8) Read and write speed may vary depending on the host device, read and write conditions, and file size. Great for NAS or NVRs
I bought this 16 terabyte hard drive to use with my Reolink home hub, and it has been an excellent investment. I have several high-resolution cameras recording continuously, and this drive handles the load without any issues. The storage space is impressive. I’ve been recording for weeks and still have plenty of room left. It gives me peace of mind knowing I can keep high-quality footage for a long time without constantly managing or deleting files. One thing I really appreciate is how quiet it is. Even with the drive running nonstop inside the Reolink hub, I barely notice it’s there. No distracting spinning noises or mechanical sounds. It just quietly does its job in the background. That kind of silent performance makes a big difference in a home setup where noise can be distracting. The drive also keeps up with the data transfer demands of multiple camera streams. Everything runs smoothly and efficiently, which is exactly what you want in a surveillance setup. I haven’t had to think twice about whether it can keep up.If you are using a Reolink hub or any other home surveillance system and want a reliable, high-capacity hard drive, I highly recommend this one. It offers plenty of space, dependable performance, and silent operation. It just works.

Dependable, reliable, and keeps on going.
I have always found Toshiba to be exceptional. They are durable, quiet, and a good value. This drive has performed well, without incident. I highly recommend Toshiba drives. I have always been happy with them and their quality. I have had a couple of drives from other companies fail, but Toshiba keeps on going. I needed an enterprise drive at one point that I could hear the drive sometimes, but that was an enterprise drive, so I expected that. The desktop drives are quiet.

The Toshiba is designed for demanding users, especially gamers and creative professionals
The Toshiba X300 8TB (model HDWR780XZSTA) is a high-performance 3.5-inch hard drive designed for demanding users, especially gamers and creative professionals. Its combination of high storage capacity, 7200 RPM speed, and large cache make it an excellent choice for storing large game libraries, high-resolution multimedia files, and work data.

DO NOT BUY – Drive failure in 24 months, no warranty available due to OEM drive
12TB drive failed after 24 months. Was used as a data drive on my system (OS on separate disk). The drive will stop showing up in device manager and will cause Windows to keep trying to reconnect. While Windows is trying to reconnect, file explorer will not respond, causing Windows to soft lock. You cannot shutdown or restart Windows while its trying to reconnect. After hard power cycle, drive will re-appear for maybe a an hour or two then be lost.I cannot warranty repair the drive as Toshiba shows the serial number as an OEM drive and to contact the OEM. Amazon has no option for warranty repair.. So I have to purchase a new drive.Do not purchase these drives from Amazon, you will not get a warranty.

    noisy but works
What I needed, little loud but it works

  8. SNSOK

Lots of space, lots of clicking
So far, so good using this drive as a Time Machine backup on a Mac. Downrated a star as it’s quite noisy.

  9. The Count

Very satisfied with this replacement main drive. It is noisy with my desktop at eye level. But not enough to be a problem. It is very fast with loading large files.Strange though there were not any locking screws supplied so if this an additional drive you may need 4 locking screws unless you already have a set.

  10. Peter F

22 TB model. Very noisy clicks when sitting on desktop in container (OWC miniStack STX). Noisy anywhere in entire room. Loud enough to wake most people. No comparison to drives in old computer tower which are quiet (4TB or less). Otherwise, works fine.

Drive failed just 1 day after the return window closed.”Chkdsk was executed in scan mode on a volume snapshot.Checking file system on F:The shadow copy provider had an error. Check the System and Application event logs for more information.A snapshot error occured while scanning this drive. You can try again, but if this problem persists, run an offline scan and fix. Offline scan and fix did not work.Edit: Amazon came through for me and authorized a return and full refund.

Le disque est un peu bruyant, mais sa rapidité est spectaculaire, excellent hdd, le meilleur de ce jour. Je le recommende.

The external USB 3.0 Hard Drive docking station does show up the HDD but if it’s installed inside desktop HDD is not showing up under disk management and does not detect the same.
