Upgraded from a Hitachi 2TB HDD to this 1TB SSD and the difference is night & day. My cold boot time is 25sec from 2 min, shutdown is even faster (12 sec). It’s blazing fast when it comes to moving data. No more intermittent freezes or read head chatter in my PC! Great quality, performance, capacity & price!

This was a surprisingly inexpensive drive, and while I wouldn’t necessarily trust critical files to it without backup, it’s well made and runs well. I’ve only had it a month or so, so I’ll update it if I have lifespan issues, but – so far so good. The drive has a plastic exterior with a sticker slapped on either side, so the case doesn’t look sophisticated – it looks cheap, but it works! Drive speed is as-expected. I’m satisfied with the purchase.

Great price, easy installation, seems to work OK with W11. Will test on Linux mint. Not sure about reliability- had an older one, that didn’t last very long, so will see. Happy for now. Works OK for linux Mint.

swapped out two regular HDD for two of these PNY CS900 500GB ssd’s, couldn’t be more pleased about it. I did end up losing the original OS, though that was my fault for not following instructions!!! D’OH!! I used Linux Mint on both machines and couldn’t be happier, they work like a charm and even better than before, no more lag, they boot up quickly and its a secure setup. Software Not Included!! If you’re going to replace an old hard drive with an SSD be sure to read the instructions completely and DO YOUR RESEARCH!! I had a Windows 10 system with the extended updates, and thought I had smooth sailing for at least an additional year, but made some mistakes, and ended up having to learn about alternate OS, thus Linux Mint, which I recommend!

Update -PNY responded and is replacing the drive. Turns out the drive I bought did not actually come from Amazon. It was provided by a third party reseller. I’ll start looking for this and I will have second thought about purchasing products from third party resellers as I don’t really have any recourse after the return policy of Amazon.It is unfortunate that I have to give this a one star. I bought this drive a year ago, and it died last week. It is supposed to have a 3 year warranty. Contacted PNY, they tell me that based on the serial number the drive is no longer in warranty. So it does not matter when you buy the drive, basically you cannot depend on any support from PNY and they will not stand behind their products. I will not buy a PNY drive again nor will I recommend them. I now know why they are so cheep. Never had this type of issue with WD or Samsung drives.
