    Thanks Netgear!
I had previously bought a higher priced and more sophisticated router which worked well but was a bear to set up and understand all the nuances of considering my relative lack of tech knowledge. i had had a previous model Netgear router supporting my wireless network for about 7 years and had always appreciated how easy the Netgear Genie worked to prevent or solve problems when i occasionally had them. I read a lot of reviews before deciding on the original brand i bought ,but i decided to just return it as too complicated for my simple needs and buy this Netgear RS100. True to my past experience with Netgear i was able to set up and install this router in 20-30 minutes, using the Nighthawk app and then proceeded to add all of my family’s devices to it easily. I did have to add several devices physically but none were difficult to do which is saying a lot for me! This router does not have some of the features the costlier one i had returned did have like VPN..which i dont use , but that is precisely why i bought this less complicated router and i know maintaining it will be much easier for me. I think it is important to learn enough to know what level of technical is adequate for your needs when buying items like a router. When you have no need or desire for higher technical capability, buying it is a waste of money as I see it.

Hardwire a computer and go through setup first
Title: Confused at first, Awesome after.Description: I have owned many Netgear products over the years. This one had me confused at first. Only my phone would have internet. Couldn’t get other devices (phones, tablets, rokus, computers) to work with it. I started reading reviews on amazon. 70% were positive. 30% were less than stellar reviews. I figured I was doing something wrong. I tried the nighthawk app. It kept stalling. I tried a hard reset or the router. Again no dice. I couldn’t interface the setup page via wifi. I finally hard wired to a computer and went through the setup. All previous Netgear routers I have owned were in a sense plug & play out of the box. Due to security upgrades the device now requires a full setup before it will work. It is super fast wirelessly. I consistently get 1gb upload and download wirelessly on our 2gb fiber from cox all throughout the house. This router replaced a 11 year old Netgear router that still is amazing. I hope I get this much life out of this one.

Recommend with out hesitation excellent customer service!!
Internet provider said replace the router. Decided on nethear. After the install had the same crashing issues as before. Called net gear customer service. They were outstanding. Identified the problem, told me what the fix was, and anticipated what the internet provider would say. The problem was a compromised ip address that was being attacked for access to my system. The solution was a new ip address from provider. Net gear figured that out, gave me activity logs to back it up, and anticipated that the provider would not want to change the ip address. After the initial call they kept following up to be sure every things was working well. Outstanding service. Once the ip address was changed the outages stopped. Net gear had nailed the problem and solution.

Good features, Web GUI needs work
Title: Good features, Web GUI needs workDescription: I like the new features especially the Protection Engine. We’ve been hit with several DOS Attacks lately. The Web GUI could use some work. On the Access Control page the lists for “allowed” and “blocked” but not currently connected disappears when router is rebooted like after a firmware upgrade. The only devices that may be listed are ones that were connected but are now not connected since the last reboot. The devices are in the configuration just not showing in the lists.FYI – I liked the graphic GUI presentation on the R7000 router. It was more user friendly.

    Control
Title: PerfectDescription: Does exactly what I needed it to do. Great for setting up guest internet for the teen in the house. No more fight to take away electronics. Just turn them off. Also surprised how many things has phishing in the background. I have a SuperBox for TV and I receive notifications of phishing almost daily

    Happy so far
Easy to setup. Lots of features to keep your network running the way you want to. I love the access control. I control who is on my network and if they get to see it or not. I get to lock down my wireless more than the average user. Has been flawless with my internet.

    Worth every penny!
The router from my provider could not deliver an adequate signal even 30 feet away, and even the provider’s technical service rep said that practically all of their WiFi routers are horrible. He recommended the Nighthawk, and I went with the RS 500 to cover both the inside and outside spaces for our home. This router is dynamite. It is super fast, has a range that is further than advertised, was easy to set up, and is not an antenna-laden eyesore. We have three people working from our home, constantly on Teams calls and streaming training videos, not to mention the other WiFi devices which are connected. This router is so much better than the last one. I bought a Cat-8 cord to maximize the fiber optic speed, which was worth it. The router was more than I intended to spend, but it is money very well spent!

A brilliant piece of kit … fast and smooth with plenty of gear hanging off it

Much smaller than I anticipated compared to my previous Nighthawk but no issues as of yet. The previous one lasted about 5 years. Seems to work well with WiFi 6/7 and handles cloud gaming effortlessly.(Tested with Nvidia GEFORCE Now and Xbox Cloud)
