Very suprising package
I love the sizeIt can take 96 gigs of RAMIt has pci-express slotWorks great with pci-e riser ribbons.The WIFI chip is removeable after taking out two screws.The UEFI has password protection features at boot.The iGPU/APU is pretty impressive.The iGPU/APU dont use much wattage at all. Could run this off solar easily.Does NOT bottleneck the 7900XTX, and neither did my 3950X CPU, so gives you some idea about the potential of this chip.Negatives:Sound port / sound driver support in Win11. I know because i built one for a relative and their Win11 isnt supporting sound, but my Win10 setup is working perfectly. This needs a driver CD, because I cant seem to access their website from the USA.

Weird but REALLY good!!
This is an odd creation not too unlike Erying and similar manufacturers who mate mobile CPUs to motherboards. However, the difference here is that this has official AMD support unlike others who use ES (engineering samples) or frankenstein laptop CPUs with varying degrees of jankiness.PRO:Excellent CPU performance and efficiency.Can use an affordable LGA 1700 cooler for this CPU. I am using the Thermaltake Assassin 120 with excellent thermal performance. UPDATE: I have this set at the 100W TDP. And the cheaper tower cooler does just fine. This chip is supposed to run warm (up to 90c) This is expected behavior. AMD’s spec is 100c limit.You can manually set DDR5 speed and timings. I have 5600 sodimm modules which default to 5200. While I could not get a stable 5600 manually I was able to set the speed to 5400.CONS:BIOS is a bit clunky and hard to navigate.Lack of available USB and IO in general. Only 4 USB ports. I really wished there was at least 2 more ports or even 1 USBClack of additional PCIE slots for expansion cardsOnly 2 SATA portsUses SODIMM

Works great with some cleanup
Okay. First off you can easily get the bios updated and run your ram at 6000 if you buy good ram. I bought this as a stop gap as my 14900k burned out.Pros its a 7950x that runs slightly slowerSimple bios after updateGot it for $369Can use your own cooler of choice with lga 1700Ram is laptop ram and lays down, saving you a lot of roomCons ran hot until I took the ihs off the cpu on the board. Cleaned off the cheap and too little thermal paste and replaced it with Kingpin kpx. Put it back together and dropped temps from high 90s to 60 to 75 at most. Ihs may have been a bit loose as well.Only 2 m2 drive slots and no usb c.This is a sparse board the what you get for what you spend if great. You can overlock this fairly aggressively after you repaste and remount the IHS. I’m sitting at 34200’s for cinebench r23 and it games great paired with my 3080ti.

Shipped with a broken BIOS.
The board booted to a red screen with “Secure Boot Violation Invalid Signature detected” error. Apparently, the factory-installed Trusted Platform Module keys (PK/KEK/DB) were corrupt. Had to install a new BIOS using a UEFI on USB to get it to work. Not cool, Minisforum.

Great for a Shoe Box Computer
I bought this for my son to make a small shoebox computer to play video games. The motherboard worked great; the only issue was that the RAM needed was the same as a laptop RAM. It is not clearly stated in the description which RAM to buy.

Missing component drivers – didn’t come with drivers
Reached out to customer service, they sent me a driver package which half of them don’t work / not packaged correctly. I still have 2 fairly vital devices missing drivers. This causes a weird hibernation bug.Fresh install of Windows 11, and Windows 10. Driver packages does not work for either OS for devices*Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology Device Component*Intel Dynamic Tuning Technology Updater ComponentBe warned peoples! They have no drivers on their website, or firmware. This seems like a “rushed product”***Update 3/20/2024 I got the driver package to work by manually right clicking devices in device manager “update driver” then searching the folder of the driver package. The installers “WILL NOT” install all drivers. Updating to 4 stars.***Update 3/29/2025 updating to 1 star. For the first time i tried to install a larger than 3060 GPU. After installing a 3090 it disabled one of my memory slots.Never in all of my china have i seen something so stupid.

I cannot say enough about this Minisforum BD794M! Fast, very fast! Stable, runs cool. Blows my mind actually. Just waiting for my GPU to come in so I can run more tests on it. Do not even hesitate on this purchase. Only wish it had more I/O. Especially USB-C.
