Good quality at 1/4 the price of the name brand
Okay so nest wanted me to pay 200 dollars for new equipment as they were no longer going to be supporting that generation that I owned. I was pretty PO’d after spending so much money. I decided to do some shopping around and found that nest is not the only game in town. Welcome to Amazon. Had these installed quite easily and connected to the WiFi within an hour. Works well and I have no complaints. Nest should learn a lesson. They go high and consumer will go looking for low. I have no loyalty to any product only my wallet. Thank you Amazon!!

Easy to use. Setup was only a little confusing
Great little automatic thermostat, device. I bet it does way more than I realize, because I hardly have to interact with this thermostat at all. I set my guideline parameters once upon installation. Now it just monitors, changes & adjusts on its own. The best feature is waking up early in the morning, freezing & thinking, Ooooh yeah! I can turn up the temp from bed. Sure makes unusually early mornings that are unexpectedly chilly a lot better to get dressed.

You cannot control this thermostat by multiple people in one household! Even if they are both linked with the Amazon Household feature. This is crazy and I have confirmed it with Amazon tech support.So basically if I have the thermostats on my Amazon Alexa app, as soon as my wife adds them to her phone and app, it deletes the thermostats from my phone.Amazons remedy: Have everyone in the house sign into one persons Amazon account. Sigh.Also, you cannot manually or temporarily override the schedule. Example: Our upstairs has its own AC and thermostats. Say my kids, who live upstairs, decide to go stay with a friend or something for the night and I want to hop on the app (my wife’s app actually since I can’t control these devices from two phones) and raise the thermostat so it doesn’t run all night for an empty upstairs. Well, it won’t let you manually do that without changing the entire schedule.I had the Google nest thermostats at our last house and they were great! Huge difference between these two brands. I was trying to streamline the number of household apps so thinking since we had Alexa devices in the house, I would get the Amazon thermostats and be able to control everything on one application instead of having to have the Google app, too. Big mistake.

I have been wanting this smart thermostat for years. We have Alexa throughout the house so this makes sense. You do need to be a little electrical savvy and yes, you need to have some brain cells if you plan on doing the swap yourself. I got it done in about 20 minutes. The hardest part for me was figuring out which breaker was for the a/c unit (labels should be mandatory, am I right? Yes, yes I am.). I had already done my research, so I knew I had the C wire already. If you don’t, you’ll need that. There was a disposable screwdriver in the box, but I used my own. I like that there was a back plate to go behind the thermostat. Perfect since my old one was a rectangular beast.I’ve had this set up for a few weeks now. I like that I can set a schedule on the app. I like that I can simply ask Alexa to set the temp to whatever. Note: If you want say 71 at night and 75 during the day in the summer, be sure to turn off heat in the app or else your heater will kick on to turn the temp up. That was my first mistake. Once I turned off the heat option in the app, my house temp rose naturally until it got to 75.Now, I did give this smart thermostat 4 stars. The reason for this is the possible reliability issue. There is no way to keep the a/c or heater going when there is no internet. I don’t know if that’s standard for these across the brands? If so, that should really be addressed because internet can be crazy at times. Actually, I only realized this could be a bad thing because one of my dogs hit the power button on the serge protector that my router is plugged into.Overall, I am sooo excited to have my smart thermostat! It was super easy to set up with my current Alexa house. No more having to schlep my way outta bed to go turn down the thermostat for the night 🙂

Perfect, my unit / manufacturer wanted $1000 just to come see what other thermostats would work. My buddy use to do HVAC and he helped me rewire the unit its been a year and a half this works perfectly. The app and energy saving features are a great plus

Decent Thermostat but Setup Could Be Easier
The Amazon Smart Thermostat works fine once it’s set up, and it has a clean, modern design that looks nice on the wall. It’s great that it’s ENERGY STAR certified and integrates with Alexa for voice control.However, the installation wasn’t as simple as expected — the setup instructions were a bit confusing, especially with the C-wire requirement. Once running, it controls the temperature well, but the app can be slow to respond at times. Overall, a good but not perfect option for basic smart home temperature control.
