7 reviews for INSIGNIA 40″ Class F40 Series LED Full HD Smart Fire TV, Voice Remote with Alexa, Free & Live TV
Lots of high-end features, no nonsense interface
After trying o series of other (much more expensive) smart TVs from Samsung, Sony, LG, I found this little gem (F40, 32″) almost for free. I was looking for a mix of high-end (e.g., ARC on HDMI), and practical features in a smallish screen size suitable for the kitchen. Remembering the last input, VESA mount, a standard no-frills IR remote, developer mode in the OS were the main requirements. Found them all in the box.The only missing thing is a 3D printable parametric model for the legs that would let me slightly customize the height and the angle of the panel. But I can do that on my own.
A 40″ smart TV with an outstanding picture for a few dollars over a hundred? YES! Buy it now
I am so glad I decided to take a chance on this 40″ TV… I had a 65″ older Samsung that I had mounted on a wall under my patio cover in the backyard for the last 2 years. Living in California means I can enjoy the outdoors at least 10 months out of the year. Well this last winter I think the heavy rains caused enough moisture to kill my Samsung… So instead of investing another $700 or so bucks on another 65″ I decided to downsize to a smart TV that cost ONE HUNDRED AND NINE dollars!!! Are you kidding me? I could buy one of these every year if they die out in the weather and never be mad about it… Here the best thing about it… It has Firestick built in to the TV… that’s another $40 value right there… I hooked it up to my existing wall mount and in 10 minutes I was watching TV and installing all my favorite apps in a flash… and the picture is outstanding… Absolutely no complaints with that. What I didn’t like was the onboard speaker. Not good at all. Typical tinny sound that just sounds horrible… I had a soundbar on my 65″ but I decided not to hook that up to this 40″… Instead I used my portable JBL bluetooth speaker and hooked that up to this TV… Now whenever I go outside to watch TV (usually sports) I just turn my bluetooth speaker on which automatically disconnects the onboard speakers and it sounds a million times better. Could not be easier. And now I have the perfect setup again. Do I wish it was a larger screen? Of course, don’t ask such a dumb question. But am I happy with this TV knowing that it works and looks great and is essentially disposable. That sounds horribly materialistic, but it’s true. Maybe in a year or two when this one needs replacing, the 55″ will be the new $100 standard and I can upgrade then. We’ll see… If you are hesitating at all about this TV, don’t. The price is almost too good for what you get!!!
Low expectations, no regrets
This TV meets all of my expectations for a budget buy. I’m just using it in my bedroom so I’m not asking for much. I also already have a Google TV for media management, though the Fire UI seems decent and the remote that shipped with the TV is nice enough. Thankfully the TV auto-switches to my HDMI input on power-up, so I don’t have to manually exit the default menu each time. The picture is nice enough, but the sound quality is lacking, which is also as expected. I might consider a sound bar even for just watching in bed, but if you’re buying this for every day use, I think external speakers are a necessity.
Issues with YouTube App.
About a month ago our 42″ Insignia Fire TV glitched out on me. I ordered this replacement. The TV is not used often but I am pleased with it. It seems lighter than the previous tv. It is easy to setup. I had not issues duplicating the settings from the first Fire TV to the new TV.After about 2 weeks of play time, I noticed on thing. The audio stutters when I play the YouTube app. I thought maybe it was the TV malfunctioning. That’s not the problem. When I open and play other apps, the audio is perfect. No stuttering not lagging, no issues at all. But as soon as I return to YouTube, it stutters. I checked my wifi connection. It is a strong connection. I reset the YouTube app. I even reset the TV to default and repeated the setup procedures. The stuttering continues while playing YouTube.I can’t attribute it to mishandling during delivery or damage freight. I personally collected the TV from Best Buy myself. I can only conclude that there is an update that needs to take place between YouTube and Insignia to fix the app’s functionality.
Perfect TV for the Price!
I’m super happy with my purchase! The INSIGNIA 40” Class F40 Series Smart Fire TV delivers a crisp, clear picture and excellent sound for a very reasonable price. Setup was quick and easy — I was watching my favorite shows within minutes. The built-in Fire TV interface makes streaming so convenient, and the Alexa voice remote is a game changer — I can search for movies, adjust volume, and switch apps hands-free.The TV runs smoothly, has great brightness, and the colors really pop. Perfect size for a bedroom, living room, or even a guest room. If you’re looking for a reliable and affordable smart TV with all the essentials, this is it! Highly recommend!
More Than Expected
Needed to replace the small TV in my office. The Vizio gave out after only 11/2 years. Decided to try a different brand and came upon this 24′ Insignia. It was delivered very quickly and I was surprised by the quality of the picture. The picture was clear and the colors vibrant. The sound is more than adequate for my small office. So far I am very pleased, especially considering the price.
The TV is great
This was birthday gift. I like the fact that Amazon dropped it off at my daughter’s home were i didn’t have to transport it. My grand daughter loves it and it was the perfect size for room. It was due to arrive on the 15th of October and arrived on the 11th which was perfect because her Birthday was the 12th. Thank you Amazon for making her Birthday special and on time. I truly dislike giving gifts 🎁 late.
