Easy to program and easy to install
After deciding to upgrade my thermostat, it was either the Honeywell RTH7600D or a similar touchscreen unit from Lux or Hunter. I’ll admit, I was partially biased when I shopped around as Honeywell is the brand I’ve had in virtually every apartment and house I’ve lived in pretty much throughout my adult life. In fact, I had never heard of Lux before I started shopping around and I’ve only known Hunter to make cheap air filters. The other models were cheaper and had some extra features I admit were tempting, but in the end I had to go with the brand I know and trust. Glad I did!The reviews here are spot on; it was very easy to install. I had a question about one of the wires that wasn’t clearly addressed in the manual, so I called Honeywell tech support in the middle of the install. I reached an agent within seconds and he answered my question in literally less than 2 minutes. The entire install took less than 10 minutes. The screen is easy to read and responsive, don’t have to press too hard. Lights up when touched, avoiding a need for a night light. I always try to touch the lower right corner of the screen to activate it to avoid changing anything on accident, but as long as you only touch one area once, it will just light up and not actually change or activate anything. It was pretty easy to set up the daily programs. I love the fact that I can keep the fan running constantly 24/7 with or without the AC or heat on. The ability of the device to learn how long it takes to bring the house to a set temperature by a certain time works very well. My wife wakes up to a warm 74 degrees while I wake up 4 hours later to the cool 71 I prefer. This is a really easy to use thermostat that has all the essential features for automated climate control and much more. It seems very well-built and high quality. I definitely recommend it. As a previous reviewer said, it’s the Cadillac of thermostats!

Well, as in most situations…don’t rush it and don’t skip any steps.
Excellent packaging! This is a handsom well designed home thermostat. Seems to be able to adapt to most modern or older home heating furnaces. Setup is intuitive. Worked the-1st try, programming is easy too!

Seems to work as advertised
I got this unit to replace a 29-year old Honeywell Chronotherm 3 that controls our 2-stage forced air gas furnace. I installed it this evening. I got this unit specifically because it says it works with a 2 stage furnace. Apparently not all thermostats do. It also allows for 7-day programming, which I’m used to from the Chronotherm 3. (Vs. programming all weekdays alike and Sat and Sun alike.) I took a photo of the wiring in the old unit before taking it off the wall. (This thermostat comes with tags to put on the wires to help remember where they go in the new unit, but a photo was less cumbersome and my wires coming out of the wall were pretty short so I don’t think there was room for the tags anyway.) The main delay in wiring up the new unit was that I had to paint the wall where the old unit was because it was bigger than this new one. I put a clothes pin on the wires to keep them from falling back inside the wall when I was painting. Once the paint was dry, wiring this baby up was pretty straightforward. I found it helpful to use some needle nose pliers to help get the wires into the holes. You’ll need a smaller-than-usual flathead screw driver to set the screws. The designations for the wires on the new unit match up with the ones from the old unit, so that was easy. Programming the unit was fairly easy, although not perfectly simple, I think. I had to press a little harder on the touch screen than I had expected, but it wasn’t difficult. I had a little trouble getting into the Schedule screen where you enter codes for the kind of system you have (in my case a 2-stage gas furnace with no air conditioner). I bypassed that programming section to go on to scheduling, thinking I might call the customer service number for help programming the system, but I went back later, tried it again, and got it this time. Not sure what I was getting wrong earlier; possibly something about not holding one button long enough. Scheduling was pretty straightforward. There are four periods for each day and you set the time and temperature for each one. I set all the weekdays together at the same time. I set Sat and Sunday each with their own schedule. The unit is running the furnace now and it seems to be working as expected. I’d give it five stars but to me five stars suggests perfection. It seems to WORK perfectly but maybe a five star unit would’ve installed itself? I’m a reasonably handy guy who does residential remodeling for a paycheck, but I think anyone with patience and basic homeowner skills could install this. Our last Honeywell thermostat lasted 29 years. Our Trane furnace wasn’t supposed to last this long but it keeps chugging along, even surprising the techs who service it. (Take this as encouragement to buy a Trane.) I expect this new unit will outlast the furnace but maybe it can run the next one?

This thermostat is perfect for my electric baseboard heating system that has a thermostat on a transformer and uses a two wire system (had an old style mercury switch thermostat in place before).Once you figure out which of the two wires go where (in my case black wire to W and white wire to R) it all worked well. A little challenging to program the installers features but once you learn you’re good to go.No C wire needed as it runs on two AA batteries. It controls the heat perfectly and is simple enough for most people to use.Just the fact that it sets the heat back at night so I’m not spending money (electric heat is expensive) while I sleep.Recommended product.

Installed this thermostat in a rental property where a smart thermostat seemed cumbersome. It was easy to setup and intuitive to use. It’s not fancy, but works well.

Ive had this for a few months now. It worked originally but now does not come on at all. Very disappointed. Waste of money
