    Excellent
I purchased 3 of these and replaced all of the thermostats in our house. Set up and programming is very user friendly, and installation is very simple. This thermostat works with simple “2 wire” systems, so there are only two wires to connect, although the thermostat can be used on other types of systems. Have had them installed for about a month and they are working perfectly and no doubt saving us $ with the program feature.

    What’s all the fuss about?
First off after reading the less positive reviews I cannot understand what all the fuss is about. Especially when it comes to the mounting and programming. Three screws and yes you may need to drill new holes and patch unused ones, you might even need to paint 😱. Needless to say mounting was no problem and while the wiring was a bit difficult (arthritis) it’s not the fault of the unit. The real issue was whomever installed the existing HVAC unit and thermostat could have left a little slack in the wiring, not Honeywells fault. Programming was also no big deal, just have the install book so you can read (yes read) what it all means. Once you’ve don’t one or two setting you’ll likely fly through the rest. I also read one review that complained about having to pop the unit off it’s mount to replace batteries. Exactly how do you think this should be done? Don’t want batteries make sure you have a “C” wire and pick a different T-stat! In my case my existing wiring was only four wires so if I wanted something more advanced I would need to update/change the wiring. A simple enough job but I’m disabled and cannot get up into the attic space and couldn’t get any local technician to give me an actual estimate. Said the system needed to be tested first which they would do with a service. At best I was able to figure it would cost no less than $200 and my quest for a updated thermostat that required no “C” wire began. Which is what ultimately brought me here today. In the end my one gripe (other as well from reading reviews) is that the ambient temperature displayed is off a bit compared to my old unit. When installed the old unit reads 68 degrees and the Honeywell 70 degrees. Check 24 hours later and the difference was the same. Could be the old unit is off or the Honeywell, I did not check beyond the comparison of the two. But that’s not really the gripe. It’s that Honeywell does not provide and offset adjustment. This said I simply programmed the unit to account for the 2 degree difference and the house is as comfortable as when the old unit was installed.FWIW the old unit worked fine, I replaced it for the following reasons:* old units display was hard to read because it was small.* old unit was not backlit (this would have helped).* was repainting and the old unit was beige and looked terrible with fresh white paint (was light yellow before).

Good thermostat but could be designed better
Good quality and pretty easy to use and so far, works great. I’d give it 5 stars, except the mounting bracket is very small and also locks onto the thermostat itself a little too tightly. There are 3 screws that hold the mounting bracket to the wall and the top screw is in the middle of the bracket. When I drilled a hole for this screw I accidently cut 2 of the 5 electrical wires and blew out my A/C transformer (my circuit breaker panel was mislabled and so the wires were still hot because I had turned off the wrong breaker). This cost me $300 in repairs for a new transformer. Most thermostats I have used only have 2 mounting bracket screws at the far left and far right to avoid hitting the electrical feed wire in the middle, but I should have been more careful. However, the mounting bracket for this model should be redesigned so it is much bigger and does not have any screws in the center of the bracket to avoid this kind of problem. Other than the mounting bracket, this model seems to be very good so far, but it does require 2 AA batteries and doesn’t have the option to use the hot electrical wire to power it (that should be changed to make it even better).

FANTASTIC! Great thermostat for those without a “C” wire.
My old thermostat didn’t have a “C” wire, so I opted to purchase this Honeywell T5 unit. Great choice. Offers the programming I need, but also has a “recirculate” mode for the fan that has the fan run 33% of the time when heat or AC are not needed. That option evens out the temperature from room to room. The temperature range it has been holding is very close, and with the fan’s recirculate mode there is very little variation.Installation was easy, as the instructions were clear and detailed. I upgraded the drywall anchors, but that was a personal choice. What they supply will work in most situations, but I wanted something more substantial. If you are looking for WIFI or web based options there are none with this thermostat, but if you need a programmable thermostat that does a good job this is a great choice. Oh, and it’s “Wife Approved”, so I get some peace and quiet, too.Bottom line: I recommend this thermostat for any installation where bells and whistles like WIFI aren’t needed.

Excellent for old apartment air conditioners!
Loved that it has the auto circulate function. My apartment’s air conditioner is failing and they refuse to replace it so moisture builds up in the unit and molds. This function causes the unit to run 30% of the time so it helps dry the condensation thus eliminating the risk of mold growth and makes my apartment not smell since it runs all the time!

Easy to read and use. Works like a champ.
This was easy to install and works very well with my 2 wire system. I didn’t care for the predictive heating feature though. The display is so easy to read and the buttons are easy to use. For those who say they struggled with the unit they didn’t read the user manual. Once setup it’s a breeze to use, really! I’m very happy with this model and would buy another if it ever decided to fail. Purchased it on Jan 21, 2022 and have had zero issues. I’m on my third set of batteries at the moment.

Connect to a Brivas gas central heating unit. Simple to use

    Good and useful..

Worked great out of the box. Install was simple since we already had all the wiring labeled.I’ve installed a Nest thermostat before and the packaging came with handy little labels to put on the wiring as you disconnect the older thermostat. Would have been nice if Honeywell (a huge name in the thermostat business) would have done the same. All in all, good enough product to get the job done.

Bought this controller to replace an older model that died.Very simple instructions included on how to remove the old unit and replace it with this new one. The instructions show you where each wire goes.In the end my controller only had 2 wires to connect, but even if yours had more, it would be no more difficult.I put the batteries in, clipped it onto the wall plate and my central heating fired up straight away.Couldn’t have been easier.

I have a very old two-wire connection (I checked the furnace, and I cannot even install a more advanced system), and this worked perfectly. No adapters needed, quick immediate connection, installation took perhaps five minutes. Works beautifully.
