Works Great So Far! Reasonably Fast & Clear Printing – Convenient Wireless Connectivity
I have used Brother laser printers for years. I decided on this particular model, mostly because it offered just exactly what my small business and home office needs were. I have no use for a fax machine any more, so this printer and scanner was really all I wanted, and it seemed like a pretty reasonable value. I have tested it several times with various paper media. I print normal text documents, some with graphics, envelopes, and voucher checks regularly. This printer has handled everything really well so far. There was a bit of a learning curve with some odd sized envelopes, but I’m pretty sure my struggle was with the software I was using, not the printer. I did experience a couple of situations where the machine said there was a paper jam when using the front tray to print an envelope, but it was easily resolved. The quality and clarity of the print seems great to me. You can adjust the print density, toner ecology, etc. pretty easily. The machine itself has a heavy duty and durable feel to it, and I’m happy with how it has been working so far for me.WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY: I was reading other people’s comments about having issues with this. I am going to share what I found worked best for me, and maybe that will be helpful for others. Since I have owned and used several Brother printers in the past, I’ve learned that getting the machine on my wireless network is easiest by simply using the machine’s console push buttons. I know in the literature it says it should be discoverable by going through the steps outlined in the instructions after downloading their software. However, I’ve never had consistent luck with that process. I still download the software to make sure I have the right drivers and features loaded, but when it comes to getting the printer on my network, I just use the machine’s console to find my router and then type in the password. It’s a tiny bit tedious typing the password using the console buttons, but I’ve never had it not work for me. Honestly, seconds after doing that, the wireless printer was discoverable and available to all of my devices. I was able to print from my CPU, laptop, phone, tablet, etc. without any issues. I know that’s not the only way of setting up the wireless functionality on these printers, but it’s what I’ve learned causes the least amount of stress and frustration. I hope that’s helpful. They provide details on how to accomplish this method in the accompanying literature that comes with the printer. At this point, I have no reason not to give this five stars. If something shoud change down the road, I’ll be sure to update this review.
Good printer!
I bought this printer for my home office and I LOVE it. It would be better if it could print color, but for my purposes black and white only was fine. It makes printing double sided a breeze which I was worried about. The scanner worked great for me, both through the feeder and putting the item directly on the scanner. The ink refills werent overly expensive. I can’t remember exactly how much I spent on replacement ink but I remember it being reasonable. I would buy replacement ink right away though because it doesn’t come with much to start. It was easy to get it hooked to wifi. This printer takes a lot of power though. My overhead lights would flash when the printer came on, so be prepared for that if you live in an old house. It’s pretty big. I definitely needed a separate table area for it. I would buy this again. The print quality was great and the ease of use made it well worth the expense.
Fast, Reliable, and Easy to Set Up
This printer exceeded expectations. Setup was fast and effortless connected to Wi-Fi in minutes with no hassle. The print speed is impressive, and the quality is consistently sharp. I’ve already printed over 530 pages on the original toner, and it’s still going strong. Scanning and copying work flawlessly too. Great all-in-one printer for home or small office use highly recommend!
Good inexpensive home office printer/scanner/copier
Great printer, works quickly and reasonably quietly (and we didn’t even set it on quiet mode). Connectivity with USB cable was easy; not having as much luck with WiFi. I can manually tell it the SSID, but there’s no way I can find to enter the password. I’ll do some hunting on YouTube, but this is something that ought to be plainly spelled out in the QuickStart – not rocket surgery! 🙂 Since the USB user is primary, the rest of us don’t care that much, but let’s get the water all the way to the end of the ditch. UPDATE: Earlier posts are correct, the silly thing will go on the network, but it won’t stay there. Fortunately, we’re using it USB only. Unfortunately, via USB it won’t scan duplex, only simplex or on the glass. It works much better as a network printer – except that it doesn’t work. Deleting one star. Still pretty good otherwise.
Works very well with good options to control your printing and scanning quality etc. The only problem that they don’t mention when installing the software off of the website is that you first have to go into the printer menu itself and select the option to allow updates to the printer ( this option is OFF by default which causes the software to “not able to find printer” error ). I figured it out fairly quickly but still, this was not in the printer setup instructions or anywhere else.
Got this printer on sale and do not regret it in the slightest (so far, lol). The setup took around 10 minutes at most. This printer is fast, easy to use, and durable. From when I got the box delivered, I could tell that Brother did not skimp on build quality and materials. 90% of my printing needs are now taken care of from the comfort of my house in a very straightforward and foolproof manner, and for that, I highly recommend this printer. My only qualm/issue is that it is bulky and not the most aesthetically pleasing; however, no one is really buying a printer for that.
Adore le produit. Facile à manipuler et de très bonnes fonctions. Exemple recto/verso qui est très utile. En plus, je n’aurai plus jamais de dégâts d’encre.
