“..it was like replacing a Pinto with a Ferrari..”
I was looking up possible replacements for my old laptop and dozed off holding my phone.. woke up about an hour later and somehow, sleep deprived, semi-conscious me, managed to purchase this item.. using the Amazon Pay option, accept the terms and conditions, add it my shopping cart, and go through the entire check-out process.. and I have no recollection of doing so. Luckily, sleepy me picked a winner! The 24 core processing capabilities and 16G DDR6 RAM is next level overkill for my needs, but I just like having all that computing power at my fingertips, it was like replacing a Pinto with a Ferrari! ..so what if had to go without eating meat for a couple months.. so worth it!

Best 2K you’ll ever spend
The best 2 grand that I’ve ever spent in my life😂 infact the only 2 grand I’ve ever spent!! It’s amazing and the specs are awesome. It’s a really powerful and durable. It has an amazing response time and speed. The keyboard is amazing and the webcam is great for your everyday zoom calls or meetings. A very powerful bang for your buck top of the line gaming laptop, I highly recommend if you got 2 grand to spend!!😁😁

DO NOT GET THIS LAPTOP
I got this laptop about 2 months ago.Horrible experience with this specific laptop. DO NOT waste your time getting this thing with only an 8gb VRAM card because every game you play that is a newer AAA title, you will be maxing out your memory.whatever second 1TB SSD they put in this laptop is atrocious and does not even pop up on my file explorer 95% of the time and i cannot access it unless i restart my laptop and start up the BIOS for it to detect.I tried returning this thing and was turned away promptly as i was told that the restocking fees would be greater than the return that i would get back for returning it.Take your time and think about what you want and what you can afford. truly, unless you plan on storing every game you have ever played or storing mass amounts of photos, you do not need the second CRAPPY AND CHEAP TB that they install into this laptop.Go for a better card with at least 12gb of VRAM and maybe from a different seller. do NOT support these cheap sellers and their irrational business.that is all.

5 Stars from a Compu-snob
Let me first tell you what I don’t like about this laptop.I don’t like that I had to wait until 2024 to get it. There, I said it.I have always been a fan of ASUS, and this ROG Strix gaming laptop is the ‘bees-knees’.However, I wouldn’t call it a laptop so much as a fancy space-heater. Yeah, it gets very hot! That being said, I’m running Satisfactory at max settings and only getting 67°C heat out of it. My electric blanket thanks you ASUS. And I still get over 100fps consistently. What do I mean when I say I’m a Compu-snob? I mean that I only want the best, but at the lowest price. I’m not a space-ship mogul after all…I spent the better part of a year sourcing out laptops, desktops, and tablets for something that would scream, MORE, and yet not make my wallet scream, LESS!And this is it.The CPU idles at 2.20GHz but revs up to 4GHz for all your high-performance needs. With 16GB DDR5 RAM clocked at a ridiculous 5600MHz, this RTX 4070 GPU machine puts ultimate power where it belongs…In my living room…and yours too. P.S. You can up the RAM to 32GB and the SSD to 2 or 4 TB if you want, and who doesn’t?The screen is bright and vibrant, however, it’s not bright enough for outdoors. But with a battery life of one hour or less, you will want to plug this power-hungry beast into a wall. And, yes, there are some very appreciable power-saver settings you can use. I don’t. Never will…The price tag is reasonable. I got the seasonal deal, but even at MFG price, you really can’t beat what you are getting. If you want to make your friends envious with a screaming beast of a gaming machine without having to donate organs, then the ROG Strix 2024 is your choice.

Good laptop, but..
I had to buy a new laptop because my previous Asus Zephyrus G15 (2021) died. Seems they have a problem with poor capacitor quality, and when those go, you get a short in the motherboard, thus no lights no power, no more laptop. So instead of paying for a new motherboard, I bought a whole new laptop for almost the same cost. This Strix G16 (2024) seems to have a decent case build quality, seems to be the same or similar materials to the Zephyrus. It is noticeably thicker (0.89″ ~ 1.20″) and heavier (5.5 lbs) than the Zephyrus ( 0.78″ / 4.19 lbs ). The lids between the two are VERY similar in size, but the bottom case on the Strix is definitely deeper (10.39″ vs 9.57″). They are both 13.9″ wide. The Strix has far more I/O ports than I’ll ever need. The cooling system seems to be sufficient for the minimal amount I’ve used it so far. I do need to test out No Man’s Sky on it, see how it does compared to my desktop. My Zephyrus has a 3070 in it, this Strix has a 4070. I did not get the chance to try NMS on the Zephyrus before it gave up the ghost.. I gamed on it very little (like once) in the 2 years I had it, so I can’t really compare the two at all.Yeah good laptop, a little heavy, I would NOT recommend this for a person in school. Battery life is not great. If you need good battery to make it all day plus some, go get an LG Gram. I use one for work, and I can get ~8-hours with a few conference calls, or up around 10 or so hours if no conference calls.I don’t really have any complaints about it so far, but I do have a big annoyance; the RBG keyboard. For some stupid reason, some knucklehead thought it’d be sooo cool to have clear keys for Q, W, E, R, A, S, D, F, and [space]. All the rest of the keys have a matte black top, where the characters are cut out. So the characters are lit up in the dark. The clear keys, are clear-ish, with WHITE CHARACTERS. When they are it you cannot see them at all! Which is fine, I can type without looking at the keyboard, been doing it for decades. But if I happen to look down at any point, these completely unreadable keys cause a page fault in my brain and neither hand can continue typing. It’s the dumbest, weirdest thing.I like the soft keypress and short-stroke. I’m using a Razer mechanic keyboard right now, and I do really like the short-stroke laptop style keyboards too. I don’t like the mechanical keyboards with the overly aggressive switches. The Strix keyboard is on the rubbery/squishy side of typical laptop keyboards. The touchpad is nice. It’s got a matte finish too it, not too slick, not too grabby. It’s a good size too.
