FireTV Stick 4K Select is GREAT — ignore the sideloading nonsense
Bought this new FireTV Stick 4K Select with the brand new linux-based VegaOS. Cost me like twenty-two bucks after eighteen dollar discount – great value for the money. Yes this has the new linux-based Vega OS which looks the same as the regular android-based FireOS — but NOT able to sideload unofficial android apps which are NOT in the approved official firetv apps store. IF you do NOT sideload unapproved apps, then the new VegaOS-powered FireTV Stick 4K Select will seem to be all the same to you. Yes Looks All The Same To Me — just like on my other FireTV sticks & cubes. Oh I no longer do the sideloading nonsense & therefore NO COMPLAINTS from me. Easy to set up! Streams Great! Remote control same as expected. Plug in & functions as expected. Thanks So Much Amazon!

⭐ 1 Star — Extremely Disappointed with the New Fire OS
⭐ 1 Star — Extremely Disappointed with the New Fire OSI’ve used Fire TV devices for years and always loved them — until now. The new Fire TV Stick 4K Select is a total disappointment. Amazon completely ruined what used to be a great product. The new operating system is locked down so tight it feels like I’m renting a device instead of owning it. You can’t even enable Developer Mode anymore! No ADB debugging, no apps from unknown sources, no freedom to install what you want.I bought this expecting the same flexibility as before, but now it’s like a walled garden where Amazon decides everything for you. Even simple things like installing Aptoide or other useful apps are impossible. It feels restrictive, slow, and frustrating.I regret this purchase deeply — it’s not an upgrade, it’s a downgrade. I wish Amazon would respect their long-time users instead of removing features that made Fire TV special. Bring back Developer Options, or this device is nothing more than an overpriced, locked-down streaming stick.

The pros and cons of moving from Android to Vega OS
as a guy who love tech. This stick has pros and cons. People are looking at this thinking there’s not enough RAM to run this thing but the good news is there is plenty of RAM because it runs Linux which is a very very not needing RAM operating system Roku’s use Linux and they have 512 megabytes of RAM on number two it gives app developers an easy platform to develop for if stuff works on Linux then it will work on here a lot better And three it is very fast and fluid and I hope it does replace Android I think that would be a selling point for Amazon to move away from Android to their own Vega O now the one gripe I will have about it for my power users out there is that yes you can’t sideload I did hear that they are going to have VPNS coming soon but I get why they’re not sideloading because of legal issues with piracy and no one wants to lose more money than what they’re putting in All in all solid streaming device I think it’s one of Amazon’s best moves in years and I hope it just keeps getting better and comes to more devices for people to enjoy it’s already on the echoes Now the fire TV will be a great transition

Highly recommended!
This very affordable Fire Stick works great despite the naysayers’ negative reviews, which I assume are coming from app pirates. My Select installed easily and works flawlessly for my needs on an old non-smart Samsung TV. The Select connected to my WiFi network automatically, and I’m getting high bit rates. My “legal” streaming apps installed quickly and effortlessly. The remote is comparable to other new Fire Sticks, albeit a bit flimsy. I particularly like that the batteries load side by side rather than stacked, which I’m assuming will help with the batteries remaining secure. The new Linux based Vega OS promises a lot of new features in the future, which I applaud. All in all, a great new Fire Stick which I highly recommend for your basic streaming and app needs.

Major step backwards for Fire TV
Overall the product is a major set back from previous versions. I was actually really excited from the announcement as I needed a stick for my home. However, it has been a total disappointment.1) The App store is serious lacking. I cannot download apps that I have on my other FireTV. This is a deal breaker for me and I’ll be returning it as a result.2) The setup process was annoying long. It forced me to do things in setup that I didn’t want to do. Eg: setup my TV and PIN. I never had to do this before on my previous ones (I could skip it). It also took a long time to finally get to use the device as a result.3) The performance is terrible. Scrolling is slow. Loading of screens is painfully bad. When I try to turn on my TV it takes well over 5 seconds even for the 3 dots to show up.Deal breaker for me is the apps, without them I can’t keep this device. However, I’m really disappointed in the fact that they claimed really strong performance and snappiness as something this device will showcase and nothing can be further from the truth!

Fast, reliable, and smooth — apps load quick, setup is easy, and 4K looks amazing every time!”
Fast, smooth, and easy to use! The new Fire TV Stick 4K Select loads apps quickly, has great picture quality, and works perfectly with my Alexa remote. Streaming feels faster than older models, and setup only took a few minutes. Definitely worth the upgrade for the price!”

Works w/Samsung; Great quality & newest design=easier & better!
Get this one! I’ve purchased MANY Firestick’s of differing generations (much cheaper ones included!) & this one eliminated my need for an extra soundbar remote, which turns itself off-often, so I don’t need to keep track of 2 remotes!
