Better Sound and Visual
Having the not much older 5″ Echo was a bit of a problem for my hearing and seeing what was shown on the screen. It was a good device thought two to three times a month I had to reset the device. This Echo Show 8 with Spatial Audio is like night and day. Though the sounds are the same I can understand the speech much better. I have no problem looking over at this device, about three feet away, reading what keeping being put on the screen noting the screen is much better like 4K or maybe 4K. I am on my second month without having to reset the device. For using in an office, kitchen, living space or a child/teen bedroom the Echo Show 8 would be great. Though, I do not use this device for watching movies, TV series and such, not that I could not only I would want the next size larger screen. The only problem that should not happen that did with the 5″ device would be when having a reminder/timer whatever it may be the screen shows will stay for a while. I enjoy seeing the screen showing the time, temperature and what is going on outside, where I have to touch the screen to get that taken off by touching stop. I have a friend that has one like this having the same thing happening to him. Surely the IT techs would go into the coding and fix this in no time writing up code to have this go away after 30 to 60 seconds. If don’t know my friend does codes and can no problem.
Affordable Smart Home Device
I ordered the Echo Show 8 in Glacier White. When it arrived I had customer Service from Amazon set it up. This process was done in under 5 minutes. My device was up and running. Before the set up I did have to re- enter a code sent to my phone on my account. I wasn’t sure if this was a theft precaution. But once I gave verification of my account. The set up took less than 5 minutes. I have watched movies off YouTube, Listened to my favorite music, RnB, reggae, jazz, blues, even classical just by telling Alexa to play the genre of music. I use recipes, listen to stories, listen to the news, weather, set alarms,timers, make shopping list, make video calls and my grandson checks his math homework by asking Alexa the problems. I’m learning new features everyday using my Echo Show 8. I truly love my Device. I have this device in my Den. I have a Echo Show 5 in my bedroom. I truly love both of my Echo Show Devices and wouldn’t trade them for anything. In the near future I plan to add smart plugs for turning on and off lights, tvs, lamps and connecting my cameras. I am amazed at the features of my devices and lucky for my purchase cost. I caught both devices at a sale price. They were worth the money. I’m very happy with my purchase.
My Daily Dose of Music, Magic, and Organization
I use my Echo Show every single day. It’s like having a personal assistant, DJ, and inspiration board all in one. The sound quality is amazing for my neo-soul and Prince playlists, and I love how the display rotates album art or calming visuals while I write, journal, or clean. I also use it to set reminders, timers, and to-do lists, which keeps me organized without feeling stressed. I’ll ask Alexa to show recipes, play YouTube tutorials, or give me the weather while I’m getting ready. It feels like a quiet companion that brings a little rhythm and structure to my space. The screen is clear, the design is sleek, and I especially love using it at night with dim light and soft music. It is definitely worth every penny.
An Most Excellent Upgrade
The new echo is really nice. I can tell it has a faster processor so it is snappier and faster on boot and in operation. *snickers* Our Alexa seems happier and chipper *chuckles again*. I had no problems transfering my settings from the last gen echo to this new one and setup was a breeze. It is soooooo nice to have a zigbee hub included at long last. I really need to be able to control my devices regardless of internet status.. I have yet to test this, but it seems the new Echo had no problems transferring both devices and settings. This edition responds very quickly and seems even easier to use than the last one. The one snag was when I transferred the WiFi. It tried at first to autoconfigure, and then I had to select the correct setting, but it remembered my config and logged in quickly to the 5G. I have had no problems operating this unit and it seems to be better about retaining control as the central unit. I actually quit like Alexa+ as she matures… She responds quickly, my requests are processed even mroe quickly, and is not making the mistakes from before nearly as often. It’s actually made the system much easier to use. The sound is rather good as well, fuller and more rounded. Over all, I definitely approve of the new Echo.
Finally Alexa+ & a great piece of hardware
I have several echo show 15’s and several echo show 5’s and the. Some echo shows running back to the original “hockey puck”. When I saw that if I bought an 8 or above that I would get access to Alexa+. That’s the primary reason i bought it.So it’s a great device in the fact that you have all the features of Alexa along with a 8” display. The display is very handy in the kitchen when cooking from an online recipe.The item I don’t like is that it’s almost as if the echo shows are hard of hearing – and they are. I asked Alexa+ about it and told me that it’s true, the echo shows have place most of the power behind the displays and the echos of course don’t need to worry about display.All said I’m glad I bought it as I placed it on my wife’s nightstand and she’s been using it. If it wasn’t so “hard of hearing” I’d rate it a 5.Alexa+ is light years beyond the standard Alexa. I’ve been able to talk to it like it’s a her and I get great answers from her. I use routines a lot and was having issues with a rather long one and I could not figure it out. I asked + to help me and sure enough she pointed me in the right direction and I found the issue within 10 minutes and fixed it.
I’m sure there is lots that Alexa can do that we are not utilizing yet, but so far we are really enjoying and appreciating the helpful addition to our home. She alerts us to packages, shows us camera feeds, and generally works well in the kitchen for converting measurements for cooking/baking, finding ingredient substitutions, etc. The sound quality is very good from the unit as well, so if you play music it sounds rather good! Mostly plug and play, but like I said, I’m sure she will do much more than we are currently utilizing.
